Engineering Manager
About the Role
Convair Engineering are seeking an accomplished Engineering Manager to step into a pivotal senior leadership role within our organisation.
The Engineering Manager plays a critical role in shaping and leading our engineering function, including the direct leadership of a team of three direct reports, ensuring strong technical capability, accountability and performance outcomes.
The role is responsible for establishing and maintaining robust engineering and technical systems that support safe, compliant and efficient operations across the business. This includes driving awareness of and compliance with established engineering standards; ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of engineering projects, providing technical leadership for Convair product applications and acting as a trusted source of tanker‑related technical advice to both the business and employees.

This role reports to the General Manager, Convair and collaborates closely with both the Senior Leadership Team and the Engineering Team.
About You
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mechanical or a related discipline).
- Demonstrated experience managing engineering activities in a comparable environment in the transport industry.
- Sound understanding of design, manufacture, and welding processes.
- Able to be relied on as a trusted expert for internal and external stakeholders.
- Effective application of change management principles, processes, behaviours and skills.
- High level of adaptability and resilience, with the ability to perform effectively in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment and under pressure.
- Well‑developed analytical, planning and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experiences:
- Experience with Finite element analysis.
- Background in failure analysis and troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated risk management.
- Project management.
- Knowledge of and experience with effective LEAN processes and procedures.
