Repair Technician
About the Role
Convair Engineering are seeking a candidate that will have hands‑on experience in fabrication and welding of carbon steels and aluminium, along with strong mechanical repairs, system assembly and fault diagnosis experience. You will be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, with the ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings to efficiently complete repairs and assemble systems to a high standard.
This role will report to Service Workshop Manager and collaborates closely with the Repair Shop Team.
About You
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in mechanical repairs and servicing, preferably in bulk tankers, transport equipment, or heavy industry.
- Fabrication and welding experience using steel.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues efficiently.
- Competence in assembling complete systems using engineering drawings.
- Strong interpretation of technical/engineering drawings for repair and modification tasks.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual handling tasks.
- Eager to learn and continuously develop new skills.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experiences:
- Trade qualification in Fitting, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Fabrication and welding experience using aluminium.
- Confined space ticket.
- Experience with welding, fabrication, and general workshop tools.
- Forklift license.
