Service Workshop Manager
About the Role
The Service Workshop Manager role provides strong leadership across the business by supervising and managing workshop staff to meet the needs of Convair, our customers and our suppliers. The role is accountable for creating a safe, enjoyable and high‑performing work environment with a strong focus on Zero Harm, quality and compliance with national standards.
This position drives operational and financial performance through effective WIP management, coordination of labour, parts, subcontractors, cost control and achievement of sales and gross profit targets. It ensures work is completed to agreed timeframes and quality standards, supported by accurate reporting, quotations and service documentation. The role fosters a collaborative team culture through coaching, accountability and leadership by example, while building strong customer relationships, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and business growth, as well as maintaining a safe, efficient, profitable and professionally presented workshop.
This role will report to the Production Manager and collaborates closely with the Repair Workshop Team.
About You
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Mechanical Trade Qualification.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as Workshop Supervisor/Manager.
- Strong interpersonal, written communciation and oral communication skills.
- Ability to form effective working relationships with employees throughout Convair.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated experience in training, coaching and management of people.
- Sound time management skills.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experiences:
- Thorough knowledge of Convair product types and industry segments.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills – predominantly Word and Excel.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in commercial ERP software.
- Strong experience in cost and labour estimating, and preparation of quotations.
- Strong experience in writing service reports.
