Boilermaker
About the Role
Gemco has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Boilermaker to join our team on a full-time basis in Forrestfield, Western Australia. In this hands-on role, you will play a key part in maintaining the safety, reliability, and performance of our rail fleet. You will be responsible for assessing, preparing, repairing, and overhauling a variety of rolling stock components, including rail wagons, wheelsets, bogies, and other rail equipment. Working within a skilled and supportive team, you will apply your trade expertise to carry out high-quality repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities, contributing to the efficient operation of our rail services.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Boilermaker looking to further develop their skills in the rail industry while working for a company that values safety, quality, and teamwork.
This role will report to Project Delivery Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out the welding of components to a finished state.
- Ensure that all welding is to a standard of AS1554,3992 & 1665
- Read drawings and manufacture components as per drawings.
- Manufacture and fabricate brackets, fixtures, tooling, fittings and equipment.
- Fabricating and building wagons
- Carry out metal fabrication of components.
About You
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- National relevant trade qualifications
- C Class Drivers licence
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
- Ability to work unsupervised and adhere to strict deadlines
- Able to perform general fitting duties
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experiences:
- Previous experience in the rail industry would be highly sought, though not essential
- National High Risk Work Licence – Forklift
- National High Risk Work Licence – Rigging & Dogging
