Mechanical Fitter
About the Role
This role will report to Bogie & Locomotive Supervisor.
About You
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
• Australian Recognised Trade Qualification: Mechanical Fitter & Turner, Boilermaker, Diesel Mechanic, Electrical Fitter, etc.
• Medically fit and physically capable of performing all duties, including the ability to pass random drug and alcohol testing.
• Willingness to participate in rostered work (including shift work if required) and undertake reasonable overtime, including weekends.
• Strong trade and industry experience with hand tools, power tools, lifting equipment, and measuring equipment, and working to high standards and tolerances.
• High-level interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), with the ability to work effectively with all organisational levels as part of a customer-focused team.
• Strong technical communication skills and computer literacy.
• Self-motivation and willingness to engage in ongoing training and development to become multi-skilled.
• Ability to understand and comply with Rail Safety and Occupational Health & Safety legislative principles.
• Full Australian working rights and a current Western Australian driver’s licence.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experiences:
• Knowledge of the rail industry, particularly rolling stock maintenance and servicing
• High-risk work licences, overhead crane, forklift, Franna, dogging, rigging, etc.
• Experience in overhauling traction combo units.
