Senior Management Accountant
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Senior Management Accountant to join the Engenco Group, focusing primarily on the Gemco Rail business in Forrestfield on a permanent basis, with an immediate start preferred.
This is a hands-on senior finance role that combines technical accounting expertise with true business partnering. You will take ownership of Gemco Rail's month-end reporting, project and job-cost accounting, and financial analysis, while working closely with operational leaders to provide insights that drive business performance and support strategic decision-making.
Reporting to the Group Manager, Finance Business Partnering, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting while helping leaders understand the story behind the numbers. You'll partner with workshop, project and service delivery teams, providing commercial insights across profitability, margins, project performance and working capital management.
This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, project-based manufacturing and engineering environment, where you'll contribute to process improvement initiatives, support budgeting and forecasting activities, and help shape the future of the finance function through ongoing systems and reporting enhancements.
About You
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- CA/CPA qualified.
- 8+ years' commercial or management accounting experience. including senior-level responsibility for month-end close and project or job costing, ideally in a manufacturing, engineering or project-based business.
- Strong, hands-on SAP experience. not just basic exposure. Real, practical experience with project and job costing in SAP (work-in-progress, job settlements and project reporting), month-end processing, and the confidence to pull and build reports independently across the system's modules.
- Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).
- Solid inventory and job-costing experience.
- Good working knowledge of the relevant accounting standards, applied practically in a commercial setting.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong overall Microsoft Office capability.
- Strong commercial sense, with the ability to work with, and present to, non-finance operational people.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work autonomously, manage competing deadlines and hit the ground running.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experiences:
- Involvement in an SAP S/4HANA migration or upgrade.
- Prior experience in a project-based, contracting or greenfield site environment.
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior finance staff.
