Apprentice Mechanical Fitter
About the Role
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Apprentice Fitter & Machinist to join our Gladstone facility. You will work alongside our experienced tradespeople gaining hands-on experience in the maintenance and refurbishment of diesel-electric locomotives and associated rail rolling stock, in accordance with established procedures and protocols.
This role will report to the Workshop Supervisor.
About You
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Medically fit and physically capable of performing duties.
- Eager to learn and able to take directions and follow instructions.
- Have a C-Class drivers licence
- Work as part of a rostered shift (day and afternoon)
- High levels of interpersonal and communication skills (oral & written), with proven ability to relate well to all levels of an organisation and work as part of a team delivering high levels of customer service.
- Self-motivated and committed to your trade including formal off-the job training.
- Ability to understand and comply with Rail Safety and Occupational Health and Safety legislative principles and practice.
- A current Australian driver’s license is required for the performance of duties relating to this position.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experiences:
- Experience in the rail industry, especially in maintenance of rollingstock or related components
- National High Risk Work Licence – LF (Forklift), RB (Basic Rigging Inc. Dogging)
- MR or HR driver’s licence
- Lathe experience (CNC or Manual)
- Experience with precision measurement equipment
