 We are seeking an experienced Key Account Manager to join our Newcastle or Melbourne team. The role focuses on driving business development with new and existing customers through the effective sale and management of Gemco Rail’s Rolling Stock products, services, and agency offerings. It requires a high level of autonomy and strong relationship-building with key account managers, business unit leaders, customers, and stakeholders. Success will rely on strong leadership, commercial acumen, and the ability to foster a culture of accountability and effective project delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead by example in the implementation and improvement of the workplace safety culture
  • Follow and improve upon the GRST Precision Selling System & Customer Relationship Mgt. System
  • Develop customer strategy papers for main accounts which include detailed records of customers, their representatives, products/services purchased and identify up and coming opportunities
  • Lead tenders which include the preparation of the bid and the full offer to the Customer
  • Develop Customer Operational Performance Reports and manage customer ARN’s to closure
  • Participate in the preparation of Divisional plans and budgets, ensuring sales margins are maintained by actively reviewing sales performance with risks and opportunities effectively managed
  • Identify critical gaps in service capabilities and escalate appropriately
  • Ensure that company systems are fully adhered to with feedback on recommended improvements
  • In-conjunction with the General Manager Sales & BD and the Operational GM’s and Managers, expand market share through existing customer base, new customers/market segments utilising all facilities that will help grow the business revenue and assets in a profitable manner
  • Research new products and market requirements

 

This role will report to the Executive General Manager, Rail.

  • Demonstrated ability in liaising and building relationships both internally and externally
  • Demonstrated ability to understanding strong project management processes and systems
  • Demonstrated information technology utilisation skills in a business environment
