About the Role

Gemco Rail are excited to offer an excellent opportunity for driven and enthusiastic Locomotive Maintainers to join our team at Dynon on a casual basis. In this hands-on role, you’ll be challenged daily by the unpredictable nature and variety of equipment faults. Your ability to stay focused, apply attention to detail, and demonstrate diligence will be key to your success.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing repairs on locomotives and associated equipment.
  • Actively participating in modification programs, equipment reconditioning, fault finding and testing, and responding to derailments or mishaps.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety and efficiency in production activities.
  • Completing all required documentation accurately, thoroughly, and on time.

 

This role will report to the Depot Supervisor and collaborates closely with the Dynon Team.

About You

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience: 

  • Trade qualifications: Mechanical Fitter and Turner, Boilermaker, Diesel Mechanic, etc. and/or Electrical Fitter.

  • Medically fit and physically capable of performing the duties described above.

  • Willingness to participate in work rosters (including shift work if necessary) and undertake reasonable amounts of overtime (including weekend work as required.

  • High level of trade and industry experience relative to trade qualification.

  • High levels of interpersonal and communication skills (oral & written), with proven ability to relate well to all levels of an organisation and work as part of a team delivering high levels of customer service.

  • Self-motivated and willing to participate in training and development activities that will enable the incumbent to become multi-skilled.

  • Ability to understand and comply with Rail Safety and Occupational Health and Safety legislative principles and practice.

  • A current Australian driver’s licence is required for the performance of duties relating to this position.

 

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experiences: 

  • An understanding of the rail industry and, in particular, diesel locomotives and associated rolling stock maintenance and servicing requirements.

  • Qualifications such as forklift, crane chaser, refrigerant handling licences, etc.
