Project Delivery Manager
About the Role
Gemco is seeking a Project Delivery Manager responsible for planning, overseeing, and managing the delivery of the Pacific National Classic Fleet contract. This includes maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution required to meet contractual obligations and customer expectations.The role will work closely with a range of stakeholders, including Operations, Planning, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, HSEQ, as well as external customers and suppliers, to ensure fleet maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead by example in the implementation and improvement of workplace safety culture.
- Manage the delivery of the Pacific National Classic Fleet contract in line with contractual obligations, customer requirements and internal business expectations.
- Oversee maintenance planning, scheduling and execution activities to ensure fleet availability, reliability and compliance targets are achieved.
- Define resource requirements and manage labour, materials, third-party support and internal interfaces to deliver the contract effectively.
- Prepare and manage operating budgets, forecasts and cost controls, ensuring risks and opportunities are actively monitored and addressed.
- Develop and maintain detailed maintenance plans, schedules and delivery priorities to support contractual service levels and customer commitments.
- Monitor contract performance and provide regular reports on safety, schedule, cost, quality, fleet status and KPI outcomes to key stakeholders.
- Manage variations, emerging issues, defects, risks and changes in priorities to minimise disruption to contract performance and fleet outcomes.
- Identify and manage key operational and contract risks, including the development of mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
- Manage the customer relationship and communication with Pacific National and other stakeholders, ensuring issues are resolved promptly and service expectations are met.
- Ensure required production, maintenance and quality assurance documentation is developed, maintained and accurate.
- Provide technical and operational oversight for work undertaken under the contract.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across planning, maintenance delivery and contract performance.
- Maintain close working relationships with General Managers, Key Account Managers, Production and Service Managers, Workshop Supervisors and Leading Hands.
- Ensure company systems are fully implemented and used effectively.
- Comply with all statutory, Engenco Ltd and Gemco Rail Pty Ltd management systems, policies and procedures, including but not limited to Rail Safety Management Systems, Quality Management Systems, and other related systems.
- Any other duties and lawful direction given by the company from time to time.
This role will report to Service Delivery Manager.
About You
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Trade qualification and/or tertiary qualification in engineering, maintenance, asset management or other relevant discipline
- Minimum 5-8 years rail industry experience in maintenance, operations, fleet management or contract delivery
- Demonstrated experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, resource coordination and execution in a safety-critical environment
- Ability to lead teams, set priorities and manage changing workloads to achieve operational and customer outcomes
- Strong understanding of rail safety, quality and compliance requirements
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and customer management skills
- Well-developed analytical, reporting and planning skills
- Strong technical and industry knowledge relevant to rollingstock or locomotive maintenance
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, risks and performance outcomes in a contract or operational environment
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experiences:
- Experience with maintenance planning systems, project tools or scheduling software
- SAP / Maximo experience
- People leadership and budget management experience
- Continuous improvement experience such as Lean or Six Sigma
